Wow! Don’t we love it! Cheap stuff at our fingertips. Ah… but is the old saying “you get what you pay for” true?
A church representative walked in with 4 sets of Sennheiser E Series wireless mics he bought . He saved a total of $280.00. They were all fake.
Fake SM58s, Gibsons, Fenders, fake flippin’ D’Addario Strings! China’s disregard for patents and copyright and the emergence of grey importers across the world has made this ultimate garage sale, now possibly the ultimate punt taken… is it worth it?
Ask yourself, why is it so cheap?
-
Check to see if the manufacturer authorizes it’s dealers to sell on eBay (i.e. Gibson and Fender among many others will not allow authorized dealers in Australia to resell on eBay) so there is every chance that is a grey importer
-
If it is a grey importer; well no warranties, and more importantly is it genuine?
-
Buying overseas; is it C-ticked – Australian standards compliant. If not, there is every chance that you will not be insured
-
Check the fine print of a world wide warranty! 99% of the time it is covered worldwide, but you must send the product back to the original country of purchase to enforce the warranty
