Hey guys welcome to Mega Music's PA Department. We are here with the new Allen & Heath SQ Digital Mixer Series. In front of me here I have the SQ-6 which is the 25 fader version. There is also an SQ-5 which is the 16 fader version. I'm just going to run you through some of the features that these mixing consoles have. So the SQ Series has up to 48 inputs, 36 mix busses which will run into 96kHz if you've got the new DX stage boxes. But it is still backward compatible with your existing Allen & Heath gear - if you've got the AR stage boxes they will still run in 48kHz like you already are running with a Qu Mixer or a GLD. So there are a tonne of applications for the SQ Series - whether it be mixing a band in a house of worship or a bar or any other context you might do that as well as recording because it does record in 96kHz direct to a hard drive or connecting up to a computer. So just to run you through a few of the features of the console, there is a graphic EQ on every output which can be great for fighting feedback. You are never limited by the DSP in the console. The graphics are always going to work which doesn't always happen with some digital mixers these days. There are lots of plug-ins already on the console and there are going to be some options for some more great ones like you already see in the upper D-Live Series. You are going to have access to a lot of those. As well as that the latency on this console is very minimal which is going to be great, especially when you are mixing in-ears. The latency on this console is 0.7 seconds which is very, very quick for a digital console these days. Another great feature of the SQ is its ability to mix in-ears. This is one of the best consoles on the market for mixing in-ears. You can have up to 12 stereo sends of in-ears which is going to be big enough for most stages. As well, this is fully compatible with ME Series of Allen & Heath Person Mixing, so all the band members on stage can control their own mix. As well, this is some App options for them to be able to control this from their mobile device. So the SQ Series is really backwards compatible. Like I already said you can use the AR Stage Boxes that are from your Allen & Health GLD or Qu Series. But not only that - you can network these up with your previous consoles like the Qu. So if you already have a Qu or a GLD, you can put that side of stage to mix monitors and have this one at front of house. Simply run a network cable between them and all your audio will stream live to the other console to be used in a live context. So just one of the awesome features I wanted to show you about this desk is how easy it is to mix foldback or in-ears. Now like most of the digital consoles that you might have used before you can select the mix on the side and then I can adjust everything. So currently that is adjusting everything in Foldback One. One neat feature that this console has that a lot don't, is that I can select a channel - like this - and press this Channel to All Mix and now I can adjust that channel in every foldback. So if I quickly need to get the lead vocal up in all the foldbacks at once, all I have to do is press that - press the Channel to All Mix and then I can adjust all of them. As soon as I take my finger off it goes back to mixing front of house. So there you have it, that's a brief introduction to the Allen & Heath SQ Series. You can grab one online here at Mega Music Online or you can pop into the Myaree store and I can run you through it myself. Thank you so much for watching and have a wonderful day.

SQ is a natural choice for in-ear monitor setups, providing 12 stereo mixes (configurable as groups or auxes), whilst Automatic Mic Mixing makes it an excellent choice for conferences, panel talks and more.

96kHz XCVI Core

SQ is a future-proofed, next-generation console, powered by Allen & Heath’s 96kHz XCVI FPGA engine. XCVI delivers class-leading high resolution audio quality, ultra-low latency of <0.7ms, variable bit depth for ultimate precision and noise performance, mix coherency down to the sample, and the sheer power to handle high channel / mix counts and ample FX / processing.

DEEP processing

SQ’s DEEP processing architecture allows owners to hand-pick boutique compressor and preamp emulations to suit their style and needs. DEEP processing is embedded directly within the mixer’s inputs and mix channels, so plugins can be used without adding system latency or setup hassles.

The Ultimate IEM Mixer

With no less than 12 stereo mixes and super-low latency, and both parametric and graphic EQ on every mix, SQ is the perfect companion for in-ear monitoring setups. SQ’s airline-friendly compactness and rugged build quality mean there’s no reason to gamble on house monitor consoles again.

Expandable up to 48 mics

SQ-6 has all the onboard I/O you need for standalone operation. Thanks to its SLink intelligent port, SQ can also be expanded up to a total of 48 mic inputs via a family of 96kHz and 48kHz rack and stage box expanders (e.g. AB168, AR2412, AR84 and DX168), making it a flexible, mix ‘n’ match solution for owners of other Allen & Heath digital systems. You can also link your SQ directly to another SQ or even a dLive system.

Dante, Waves and more

SQ is the centrepiece of a growing ecosystem of apps, expanders, audio networking, personal mixers and more, allowing you to connect, adapt and expand to your heart’s content. It’s compatible with leading audio networking standards too – add an audio networking card such as Dante or Waves to SQ’s I/O port and you’re ready to integrate with installed systems, provide a digital FoH / Monitor split and more.

Flexible multitrack recording

The integrated SQ-Drive makes it quick and easy to capture a 96kHz multitrack or stereo recording of the show direct to a USB key or drive. No software setup, no soundcard driver issues and no extra laptop to bring to the performance. SQ-Drive is also a smart way to manage walk-in music.

Advanced AMM’s

SQ’s advanced automatic mic mixers (AMM’s) make it a natural choice for mixing conferences, panel talks and TV shows. They’re fully integrated in the mixer too, with no extra latency, so you don’t need to route the audio to an internal DSP rack or an external plugin system. Two fully independent 24 channel AMM’s can be utilised for two zones or combined into a single 48 channel AMM for larger events.

Designed for the pro

We know that the live environment can be tough on gear – that’s why we devised our most punishing regime of testing and retesting yet for SQ. From its 3-tier, all metal chassis to its extruded aluminium light bar, SQ has tremendous strength and rigidity underlying its good looks.

The Mixing Experience

With each new design, the Allen & Heath team strives to get closer to the ultimate mixing experience. SQ’s dashboard is centred around a high-res 7” capacitive touchscreen, framed by an array of high-grip, illuminating encoders to create an intuitive, integrated blend of clear visual feedback and immediate, hands-on control. Channels and mixes can be dragged and dropped to any strip, with custom naming and colour coding on the colour strip displays, allowing you to build a mixing environment that mirrors your own workflow. Each strip features our patented Chromatic channel metering system, giving you at-a-glance level indication thanks to LEDs with variable brightness and colour.  SQ-6 also offers 16 Softkeys and 4 Soft Rotaries with displays that can be assigned to the functions you want at your fingertips, and a ‘channel to all’ mix button to instantly access all sends from the selected channel.

SQ MixPad App

The SQ MixPad app is available for free on iOS and Android platforms, providing wireless control of the main mixing functions. This enables the engineer to mix from different listening positions, set up monitor mixes from the stage, or just add extra local control.

All you need is an iPad or Android device and a wireless router.

RackExtra FX

Allen & Heath has a well-earned reputation for crafting FX emulations that rival the very best plug-ins, but with none of the associated hassle. SQ is armed with 8 stereo FX engines and features the acclaimed RackExtra library of emulations of legendary classic reverbs, gated reverbs, delays, modulators and more. All FX have dedicated stereo returns so you don’t need to waste input channels.

ME Personal Mixing System

SQ is fully compatible with the ME Personal Mixing System, allowing the performers to take control of their own monitor mixes. Any number of ME-1 and ME-500 personal mixers can be daisy-chained from the mixer’s SLink port, or from a connected remote expander.
